Srinagar, Apr 08 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday informed the Legislative Assembly that a number of politicians, journalists and government employees are illegally occupying government accommodations in both Srinagar and Jammu. Responding to a query by MLA Abdul Majid Larmi, the government as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) replied, “Yes, Sir. There are some accommodations both at Srinagar and Jammu under the unauthorised occupation of politicians, journalists, and employees.” The MLA had sought clarity on whether a considerable number of influential individuals were overstaying or occupying estates accommodation without proper authorization. However, the response did not name the individuals, but it did note that the Estates Department has been instructed to initiate eviction proceedings against such occupants under the J&K Estates Department (Allotment of Government Accommodation) Regulations, 2004—(KNO)
